Purpose of Role:

The Senior Regulatory Accountant is responsible for ensuring compliance with the regulatory capital and customer protection rules as related to its broker dealer/customer clearing business.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily and weekly customer and PAB reserve calculations (15c3-3):
    • Produce calculations.
    • Monitor source system reports to ensure data accuracy.
    •  Maintain data integrity and reliability.
    • Develop internal controls to eliminate errors stemming from manual or systematic inputs.
  • Daily, monthly, and quarterly regulatory capital calculations (15c3-3):
    • Produce FOCUS, SLS, OBS and other reporting as required.
    •  Create and process daily files from sub-ledger systems (Broadridge).
    •  Understand breaks and develop solutions to fix them.
    • Reconcile General Ledgers to sub-ledgers, pursue explanations for and rectify any variances.
    • Identify emerging issues, investigate, and resolve them.
  • Communicate with senior management as required.
  • Research regulatory issues and associated rules and interpretations to identify appropriate actions.
  • Ensuring compliance with the company’s regulatory requirements under the SEC, FINRA, NFA, CFTC and other applicable exchanges.
  • Adhere to the operational risk framework for your role ensuring that all regulatory or company determined parameters are complied with.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and 10 years of experience in a clearing broker/dealer regulatory reporting role.
  • FINRA Series 99 required, FINRA Series 27 is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Broker/Dealer financial regulatory rules, specifically hands on experience with the proper application and preparation of the 15c3-3 customer and PAB reserve calculations in a customer clearing environment.
  • Experience with Adenza/AXIOM reporting suite.
  • Experience with borrow/loan, margin, rehypothecation, Broker/Dealer Operations, etc. as they impact the customer reserve calculations.
  • Knowledge of the possession and control aspect of rule 15c3-3.
  • Familiar with net capital (15c3-1) concepts and applications.
  • Experience interacting with Regulatory Agencies helpful.
  • Security Based Swap Dealer experience as plus
  •  Well versed in fixed income and equity financial products and their operations and settlement
  •  Experience with controls and their implementation as they relate to regulatory reporting.
  • Knowledge of accounting concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial information.
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, macros, etc.
  •  Experience with IMPACT and Broadridge Financial Solutions a plus.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of the risk and compliance requirements associated with this.

Salary Range:  $130,000 to $170,000 per year and eligible for discretionary bonus.
