Tell us a bit about your background:
I graduated from Loughborough University in 2020, where I studied International Business. This included a placement year in the Planning and Supply team at Volkswagen Group. After university, I joined Marex on a fixed term internship in the Financial Crime Team and later in 2020 joined the Internal Audit Team on a three-year graduate programme. This included working towards the ICAEW ACA Qualification, the CISI Capital Markets Programme Qualification and the ICAEW Data Analytics Qualification.

Describe a typical day in your role:
Each day is different within internal audit, depending on the type of audits I am working on and the phase the audits are in. Typically, this can include walkthroughs with the business to map out key risk and control areas and analysing / validating audit evidence. Later phases of the audit cycle include collating and discussing findings with management, and eventually writing any findings into reports. Ad-hoc tasks can include tracking audit actions to completion and creating management information on audit actions and audit completion status.

Evenings for the three-year graduate programme would typically be spent studying towards the ICAEW ACA qualification.
