Roxy describes her experience of life as a graduate at Marex.
Tell us a bit about your background:
I graduated in 2023 from the University of Leeds, where I studied Maths. I am originally from Sydney, where I completed an internship with Marex after University. As part of my internship, I gained an insight into financial services, spending one-to-one time with various desks. This then led me to apply for a role on the graduate scheme in London.
Describe a typical day in your role:
As a sales and trading graduate, I am sitting with the financial futures and options team who trade fixed income derivatives, with the goal of becoming a broker on the team. During my time at Marex I have been studying for my CISI and NFA exams, in order to be qualified as a broker. Having now successfully achieved those qualifications I am able to support the team by booking trades. Alongside that, my day-to-day includes managing clients and developing those relationships. I have found it very interesting learning how to spot market moves and knowing which data holds more weight in affecting trading choices.
What is your favourite thing about your role?
I love how fast paced it is. Having to react to market movements quickly means there is always something going on. The way the market looks when I come in in the morning can be drastically different in the afternoon on the same day. The role allows me to get stuck in and pick things up quickly.
